What We Do

Healing Through Collaboration

Five people sitting around a table with papers, books, and water bottles, engaged in conversation in an industrial-style room with a concrete floor and storage cabinets.

At SEE to ACT, the camera is a tool for profound human connection. We utilize a trauma-informed and restorative justice approach to arts education. For youth who have been marginalized or impacted by the justice system, finding a way to process their experiences is critical.

By stepping onto a collaborative film set, our students find a safe, supportive space to be seen and heard. They learn to communicate complex emotions, build deep trust with their peers, and discover a brand new direction for their futures.

The Art of Telling Your Own Story

We believe in giving youth total ownership of their narrative. We put the equipment directly into their hands and guide them through every step of the creative journey. Throughout our programs, students develop real confidence by mastering:

Storyboarding and Script Writing

Finding their authentic voice and learning how to structure their personal narrative.

Lighting and Direction

Gaining the courage to lead a set, shape their environment, and guide their peers.

Crew and Talent Management

Practicing essential communication, teamwork, and empathy in real time.

Post-Production:

Reflecting on their collaborative work and bringing their shared vision to life in the editing room.

Restorative Practices and Community Building:

Approaching the creative process through a restorative justice lens to build deep, lasting self-worth and empower students to become active, engaged members of their communities.
